More than 20 years of research has led us to one central and simple conclusion: companies with better people tend to produce better results. We work with you to deliver best-practices-based training to help ensure you have the best people in the business in front of your clients and prospects and the best people in the business leading your teams.

Business development and leadership training programs custom designed and exclusively delivered for the modern financial professional.
We are a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based financial services consulting and training firm founded in 1999. Our core philosophy is “Better people. Better results”. We believe the company with the most talented and skilled people will usually be the best performing company. Our mission is to help you build the best people.
We deliver research and best-practices-based training programs for financial institutions and financial professionals. We help our clients develop the skills of their most valuable asset, their people! We believe better people produce better results.
We deliver research-based training content specific to financial services. We do not “invent” much novel content and we do not try to transform your financial professionals by introducing them to car, copier, or pharmaceutical sales techniques. We study the most successful financial professionals from the past and present and use the results of our research to build our training content. Our instructors are all former financial professionals themselves.
Any financial professional! We specialize in leadership development training for those who lead your teams, and business development and soft-skill programs for your front line/client-facing financial professionals.
As a matter of policy, we do not mention any clients by name. Our clients seem to appreciate this policy. However, we would consider ourselves focused on the Financial 300. Our clients tend to have larger leadership and sales teams requiring a comprehensive training solution.
We listed several of our most popular programs on our training page, so feel free to check them out. Our “skill development clinics” category basically means we can customize a training program to cover any specific skill(s) your team needs to work on.
We do business in a consultative, collaborative, customized, and candid fashion. We do not try to “wow” you with slick websites or over-the-top marketing packages designed to tell you how great we are. We find that, in most cases, these types of presentations regularly oversell a firm’s capabilities.
We actually have many core values, but we find most value statements to be a tad bit lengthy and not very memorable. We run our firm with the word “respect” as the key driver of everything we do. Respect to us means doing the right thing in every situation. And, of course, respect means honesty, integrity, confidentiality, candor, value, product excellence, community service, executional excellence, delivering on promises, exceeding expectations, etc., etc. We find that we when include the “respect rule” in every conversation and every project (internal or external) we usually end up with great results.
We included a pricing list on our training page. If you do not see a package that matches your project objectives, please be sure to talk with us. We can usually customize a proposal to suit your unique situation.
If you are serious about hiring a firm like ours to help with your training initiative, we could most likely conduct a trial workshop for you and your team. If you like what you see and decide to hire us, we will roll the cost of that workshop into the broader engagement. If we are not the right fit for you, then you are free to say “thanks, but no thanks” and the workshop is 100% “on the house” at our expense. We do not want anybody to hire us unless they are completely confident that we are the right fit for them. Making a large-scale training investment should never be a guessing game. You should know what you are getting before you agree to pay for it.
Our firm’s longest-running study is approaching 30 years of continuous research. The objective? Determine how the most effective leaders in history became the most effective leaders in history. The result? A story, theory, and skill-packed program highlighting the 7 critical leadership styles, all tailored specifically to match your industry.
If new client acquisition through referral development and COI marketing are two of your key strategic objectives, then our BOOM program is your solution. BOOM (Big Opportunity Outbound Marketing) introduces participants to the 20 most effective referral and COI-based new business development strategies available for the financial professional.
When working with business, affluent, and high-net-worth clients, the basic “feature/benefit product dump” approach is not very effective. Our IDEAS program provides skills in all phases of a true consultative sales experience. The IDEAS program (Initiating, Discovering, Engineering, Advising, Servicing) leaves no consultative sales situation unaddressed.
If an amazing advice-based customer sales experience on the retail floor or through your call center is your focus, then we suggest our GEARS program. The GEARS program (Greet, Engage, Advise, Resolve, Sell) compresses the concepts of consultative selling into one power-packed, advice-based retail sales interaction.
In the retail world, one of the biggest challenges leaders face is team member engagement. Based on and backed up by several true retail “rags to riches” stories, SALT & Pepper engages participants while delivering skills to master the SALT approach (Service, Advice, Leadership and Teamwork). Your team members will never see their job as a “dead end” again. Every participant will receive a signed copy of our 2009 published book SALT & Pepper. Click here to read a review of the book published in the American Banker.
The 5 programs listed above are our most popular “complete” training programs. However, our library is fairly extensive and we also deliver specific skill training programs. Our most commonly requested skill workshop is Effective Negotiating Skills, but we also have workshops for public speaking, objection resolution, closing, networking, and many more. Last but not least, if you already have a great program in your training library that you would like us to teach, we can do that as well.
All of our workshop pricing is based on a minimum of 25 participants per workshop and does not include project-related expenses. Project-related expenses such as travel, meals, print production, etc. are billed separately following each training session.
90-Minute Keynote Engagement – $15,000 USD
½-Day-Workshops – $595 USD per participant
1-Day-Workshops – $950 USD per participant
2-Day-Workshops – $1,250 USD per participant
3-Day-Workshops – $1,500 USD per participant
*Prices are negotiable based on institutional volume engagements so please talk with us about your training initiative and we will customize a proposal to match your project.
Our training programs were custom designed to provide the perfect blend of theory, strategy, and tactics. Highlighted above are some of our most popular programs. If you do not see a program that matches your training objective, please be sure to talk to us. Our training library is one of the most extensive in the industry and we probably have exactly what you are looking for.
